Snask have become a bit of a favourite studio around here. It’s always fun to see what clever design antics they have been up to. Amongst their recent projects is a rebrand for trendy Norwegian eyewear brand Kaibosh. Already known for the witty names of their designs, Kaibosh’s tone of voice gelled perfectly well with Snask’s idiosyncratic humour and joyful approach.
An electric blue has been proclaimed as the the lead colour for all communications. It’s complemented by a warm eggshell yellow, and a powder pink. Kaibosh’s original logo has remained untouched, but Snask have created a complementary bespoke typeface, icons, and a big bold eyelash symbol that activates the pared back typographic style, working well at both small and large scales.
Kaibosh’s points of difference from other brands lie in its fashionable eyewear models, and the affordable range of price points on offer. Their brand is youthful, vibrant, and fresh. Snask have expanded their existing tone of voice to humorous slogans, and the odd pun, that adorn their collateral. “Eyes before guys” and “Shades before grades” offer small gems of somewhat questionable advice. The play on words in Kaibosh’ versions of the days of the week also functions as a marketing device. Their frames are so cheap, you can have multiples — gone are the days of wearing one pair of glasses until your eye test dictates buying a new pair. Kaibosh’ website in the process of being redesigned, but you can find their glasses stocked all over the world, if you’re keen for a pair.
