Overview
Beat Repeat is a 2D, rhythm based video game in which the player is shown a sequence of arrow key presses and must repeat them in time with the music playing in the background. If you don’t press the right key or press a key at the wrong time, you will lose a life. You can earn back lives by pressing the right button at the right time.
This game was developed by Adam Moore and Reuben Foord (SPACE INVADORS). We made this game as our year-long project in our game development class at Burnside High School. The concept of the game is based on a very common aural music theory test where an assessor will clap a rhythm to you and ask you to repeat it. This is a very simple test but it shows a lot about your musical ability. However in my experience as an aspiring musician, practicing these skills for these tests can be extremely boring. So we decided to make Beat Repeat to make the process more entertaining.
