'Burning Night' is a piece that I completed roughly two months ago. This is a fully rendered digital painting that was created in roughly 7-8 hours with the use of a tablet, and multiple art programs such as Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop.
Before this piece, I had just completed a visual study of lightening and storms, and I wanted to demonstrate what I'd learned by creating a fully rendered scene that included an original character, Sicoro. I took inspiration from multiple sources, and included a common trope I noticed being used in Japanese anime works- the slightly tilted point of view. In combining this with the lighting, I was able to create a very dramatic scene that conveys a sense of fearlessness and confidence. I wanted the audience to immediately see that this character is not afraid of the world around her, and did so by making her seem un-flinching, and through having her almost glare at the storm around her.
