There is a seventeen-year-old girl hating her own reflection in the mirror. She is a girl who dreams of having an hourglass figure, flawless skin and bambi eyes; who suffers so much to build that perfect, precious disguise— but lost, confused and shattered on the inside. She feels like a geek. We’ve all been that girl. We too, struggle to untangle those thoughts of self denial instilled in our minds. Too long have these standards of beauty depicted in mass-media influence the way individuals view and present themselves. These restraining social expectations trap us in an enclosed room, where we question our self worth with judgmental eyes that society gives us. This is the girl’s quest, to face her inner struggles and break out of her distorted form, to finally find and embrace her true self. Ultimately, this is a story of self acceptance that we can all reflect upon.
