The author

Hey there!

My name is Josh Jessup and I'm a recent graduate of a Bachelor of Design Studies looking to further extend and develop my design knowledge in the art of interior design.
The world of design is an uplifting and exciting pathway and I am very keen to continue my next steps along this journey with Billy Blue. I have an out of the box approach and consider myself a forward thinker.

My designs are a careful balance of meeting the brief whilst surprising and delighting with details and features that go beyond the project scope. One of my goals is to bring the future of design and interiors from the horizon to the present. The future is an exciting space and design is going to be one of the most fundamental forces contributing to how it's shaped. I aim to be at the forefront of this journey, both walking existing paths whilst shaping new forks in the road, all of which will bring the future to now.

Overview

With my Indooroopilly Library redesign I aimed to evoke a calmness and an intimacy, feelings that can sometimes be hard to come across in a library.

The idea was to give occupants and users a space where you could come and study, read, research, unwind, bring the kids etc. I decided to create quite a modular experience to help extend the longevity and adaptability of the space, most bookcases are designed to be easily moved to allow for changes in layout effortlessly.

The colours of the library help create a calm and allow for focus, whilst the dark ceiling helps compact the space to a point of intimacy and tranquility without a claustrophobic atmosphere. The kid's area is designed to be just as fun energetic and playful as them, creating a space children will be excited about and help stimulate the mind and encourage learning. Indooroopilly library has been redesigned from the ground up to put the local community first.
