I wanted to capture the feeling of loneliness. In creating low key lighting, I used only the key lighting from the sunlight passing through the window shutters on the subjects left. I positioned the subject among the diagonal of light and angled his face to capture his
silhouette on the wall. I metered from where the light meets the subject’s nose and increased the shutter speed to darken the image. I also set the white balance to tungsten to cool the colour of the light. I then cropped for the rule of thirds in Lightroom.
