The author

I recently graduated from a bachelor of Veterinary Technology from the University of Queensland. I have always had a passion for the arts but after school I felt the only way I would be able to get a job is with a science degree. Now that I am working I realise it is so much more important to take a chance on doing something I love rather than settling. I have always been interested in art and fashion but now I want more. I want to be able to create my own style and fashion as well as admire other people's. This year I began putting my own design ideas into fruition and by applying for design school I hope to be able to take my ideas even further and begin creating on a large scale for other people.

Project details

Inspiration for this out was taken from pieces that had used block colours to create symmetrical patterns. I put my own style on the outfit by choosing the colours and the fabrics. The aim was to create a set piece that looked aesthetically pleasing by using two completely different colours that worked well together and creating a mixed and matched look. I used a simple pants pattern and cut out a front and back section from each of the colours. The top was created from modelling it after a top I had previously made.
