The game's main purpose is to be free, fun and educational. It was inspired by the game '2048' except with unlockable 'star cards'.
This gives the player a sense of progression and purpose. The recognizable periodic table symbols are on the face of the tiles, so the player knows what's going on. Each element has a unique color corresponding to it's emission spectra.
The music is classical music revamped to sound more 'spacey'. The graphic design, while mostly flat, was inspired by 1920s travel brochures - especially the star cards.
The game only loosely follows main-sequence fusion however, and leaves out quite a few important details. That's why there's a blurb of sorts outlining how each element fuses in the 'Help' section of the game.
