The author

Hey there!

My name is Josh Jessup and I'm a recent graduate of a Bachelor of Design Studies looking to further extend and develop my design knowledge in the art of interior design.
The world of design is an uplifting and exciting pathway and I am very keen to continue my next steps along this journey with Billy Blue. I have an out of the box approach and consider myself a forward thinker.

My designs are a careful balance of meeting the brief whilst surprising and delighting with details and features that go beyond the project scope. One of my goals is to bring the future of design and interiors from the horizon to the present. The future is an exciting space and design is going to be one of the most fundamental forces contributing to how it's shaped. I aim to be at the forefront of this journey, both walking existing paths whilst shaping new forks in the road, all of which will bring the future to now.

Overview

With this brief, I was required to design a three level residential extension to an existing office block, I had to think about the flow of both the residents and office workers and make sure neither was interrupted.

I designed a new lobby area specifically for the resident's to avoid having to share lifts with the office. This allowed me to create a personal and private experience for the residents without taking away from the office workers experience in the building. The three story residential extension consists of studios, one bedroom apartments, two bedroom apartments and a top level penthouse.

The extension has been designed in a way where it branches off from the original site without being too much of a distraction. a balance of old and new was achieved through the use of keeping similar materials with the existing building whilst creating a more organic and striking top silhouette. The balconies capture key view points for residents without compromising privacy.
