This photo was taken when I was at a crossroads in my life. Scarbough Beach is a well known beach in Perth, Western Australia. I returned to my hometown for respite and healing. I was walking along the beach at sunset, and was engulfed by an amazing sunset of pinks, oranges, and golden yellows, which were to disappear within minutes. I caught the last few seconds when the sun was going down, and the sky was awash with these golden metallic tones. This photo captures the feeling of awe with the beauty of nature, that I felt walking along that beach. It inspired me to embark in ernest, on my creative journey. It made me believe that satisfying one’s soul is a worthy pursuit. Taking this photo reminded me of how much I loved taking photos as a child. Whenever I look at this photo, I am uplifted. It makes me think of the power of art and design, and how it can heal people; in both the creation, and the consumption of art. This is the photo that made me want to become a photographic artist.
