‘The Imprints Made’ explores the topic of distortion through focusing on the effects of my childhood memories. It explores the memory from my childhood and how it had an effect on me and how in present time if effects me more and more. By having a self portrait used as the basis of the work, it helps to create a personal attachment to the work to show how it is physically and emotionally effecting me.
In creating the final work of a series of five photographs that have been scrunched and placed into chronological order displays how the effects and dents it has caused over time. It also shows how my understanding of the situation with the amount of marks and dents on each photograph from my childhood through to my teenage life now. The work is displayed in a semi-circular formation to help the viewer feel emerged and involved in the work to understand the sequence and the full effect that the memories have had on me.
