A collection of images taken in China and Hong Kong highlighting different perspectives of famous tourist sites. I aimed to capture the atmosphere in a way less direct than photographing just the landmarks themselves.
The first photo aims to express a sense of organised chaos at Xian's night markets which I saw reflected in many aspects of China; from its bustling yet hyper-functional cities to its tumultuous political history.
The second photo is the reflection of one of the most celebrated neon signs in Hong Kong melting over a gooey black taxi. I had seen photographs of this particular rainbow sign on the internet many times before visiting. I was aiming to capture the Bladerunner aesthetic of Hong Kong in an unusual way.
The third photo aims to draw a contrast between the modern and ancient, highlighting how self-obsession can obstruct our view of the stories that laid the groundwork for society today.
